Athlete’s foot is a fungal infection that generally develops between the toes. Its name reflects the fact that people who play a lot of sport are often affected. Athlete’s foot can be picked up in many ways: by walking barefoot at the pool, wearing synthetic socks or shoes, etc.
To help prevent this infection, carefully dry your feet after getting out of the shower or pool. Use a clean towel and pay particular attention to the skin between your toes. Wear cotton or woollen socks – they absorb damp, unlike synthetic socks.
